Shift Control Media Launches Game Like Website
Brandworthy game company creates story-driven site that reflects point of view on marketing trends.
Greenwich, CT – December 3, 2007 – Shift Control Media, a branded entertainment company that focuses on original games, has launched its freshly redesigned website, www.shiftcontrol.com. The new site invites visitors to follow a series of character-driven storylines that convey the company’s perspective on the evolving media landscape, as well as the opportunities that original branded games present to marketers.
Based in Greenwich, CT with a development studio in Vancouver, BC, Shift Control Media has created games and emerging media strategies for such clients as Coca-Cola, NBC Universal and Yahoo.
Shift Control President and C.E.O. Tim Zuckert says that devising the game-like world on the site was a way to express the company’s corporate culture while simultaneously illustrating it’s point of view on casual games and branded content. “We’re in the business of creating interactive entertainment,” Zuckert comments. “Our site not only demonstrates our expertise, but also gives us the opportunity to address this emerging marketplace in a manner that’s fun and light hearted.”
Visitors to the site follow characters through their own unique journeys within fictional Madison Avenue, Studios Blvd. and Main Street environments, which reflect the worlds of marketing, entertainment and mainstream consumer culture, respectively. The stories relate to some of the factors driving the relevance of original games to marketers.
“We wanted to tell our story in an engaging and unique way, while at the same time building a foundation on which to expand the site, adding content and giving people reasons to come back and discover something new,” explains Frank Sanni, Director of Strategic Planning for Shift Control Media.
Vancouver-based interactive agency mod7 created the Flash-based, retro-looking website. “Mod7 demonstrated a creative flexibility and collaborative work style that we immediately responded to,” explains Sanni about the choice. “After exploring a range of concepts, we chose a sort of ‘old-school games’ visual style—instantly familiar and accessible, with a fun, tongue-in-cheek sensibility.”
Zuckert is delighted with the results: “It’s playful and at the same time gives information to marketers about how games represent an opportunity to interact meaningfully with consumers and drive measurable ROI,” he says.
